Seven CA Doctors Reprimanded by Medical Board
Seven doctors practicing in Orange County, California, were recently disciplined by the California Medical Board.
The physicians were reprimanded for different infractions, including the failure to treat a post surgical wound and injecting patients with experimental drugs.
Doctors Under Watchful Eye
Among the doctors who are being watched by the board are Dr. Gonzalo Covarrubias and Dr. Jyotinkumar Patel.
Dr. Covarrubias is an orthopedic surgeon and was put on seven years probation for alleged, “gross negligence.”
He reportedly failed to treat the open wound of a diabetic patient who contracted meningitis and sepsis as a result.
Patients Suffer Due to Negligence
Dr. Patel reportedly failed to properly treat a patient with breast cancer who eventually died under his care.
According to reports, he initially diagnosed the patient with a chest sprain and was using illegible chart notes.
Dr. Richard Huberman of Newport was also reprimanded for allegedly conducting surgery on the wrong body part of a patient.
