Medical Malpractice Lawsuit Filed Against Cardiologist
The trial for a lawsuit filed regarding a man who died as the result of doctor mistakes began early this week.
The medical malpractice suit was brought against the cardiologist who was supposed to be caring for the man and the Freeman Health System.
Family Accuses Doctor
The suit was filed by Lester Rush, the father of Larry Rush, 65, who died shortly after being admitted to the Barton County Memorial Hospital.
Rush and his family are accusing Dr. David Zuehlke and the Freeman Health System for not properly caring for Larry and causing his wrongful death.
Larry Rush was admitted to the hospital after experiencing symptoms of a heart attack.
Dr. Zuehlke, who was the cardiologist on duty that night, reportedly didn’t schedule an angiograph until the following morning.
In the meantime, Rush allegedly suffered recurrent signs of ischemia and angina, which can be felt in the chest, shoulders, back and arms.
Zuehlke reportedly ordered tests and medications for Rush, but never actually looked at him and instead left the hospital that night to attend a New Year’s party.
By the time Rush was entered into the cath lab the next morning he had already undergone several hours of recurrent ischemia, and although surgeons attempted to perform surgery, it was too late.
