A lawsuit was recently filed on behalf of a woman who died during childbirth at the Albany Medical Center Hospital.

The woman’s husband who has been grieving since losing his wife while she was in labor, filed the suit.

Husband Loses Wife During Delivery

According to the suit, Diane Rizk McCabe bled to death over Labor Day weekend while she was giving birth to her second child.

During a 15-hour period, McCabe reportedly lost an estimated four quarts of blood, out of the 5 quarts that are typically in a pregnant woman.

McCabe eventually went into shock after enduring the blood loss and died.

Since, the incident, Joseph McCabe, the father of the now six-year-old boy, has taken a leave of absence serving as a police officer in Albany.

Suit Filed

The suit claims that the physicians didn’t follow hospital procedure and failed to call a maternal hemorrhage code.

“McCabe’s death was totally preventable,” states the suit.

The suit is seeking unspecified damages for the woman’s wrongful death.
