Couple Files Suit for Incorrect Operation

A couple living in Florida recently filed a suit against Capital Regional Medical Center claiming that they performed an incorrect surgery.

The suit claims that the woman suffered from health complications after the unnecessary surgery was performed.

Unnecessary Surgery Performed

Norma Ultermohlen was admitted to the medical center after suffering a heart attack.

Five days later, the plaintiff reportedly received cardiac-bypass surgery and developed a bacterial infection.

When doctors realized that she contracted the infection, they removed part of her colon.

The couple is claiming in their suit that the infection was misdiagnosed, the surgery was unnecessary and that Norma now has health complications resulting from the procedure.

According to Scott Gwartney, the attorney for the couple, at least one other patient in Ultermohlen's unit also had the infection, which proves the surgery was not needed.

Couple Seeks Compensation

Capital Regional Medical Center, which is located in Florida, has been named as the sole defendant in the suit.

The Ultermohlen's are seeking an unspecified amount in damages for Norma's pain and suffering, along with the additional medical expenses that have resulted from the surgery.
