$1.2M Settlement Reached in Surgical Error Case
A couple living in Nebraska recently received $1.2 million in a settlement regarding the case of their son’s untimely death.
The suit was filed after their son, who was 13 years old at the time, died due to a surgical error.
Appendix Surgery Gone Wrong
Ty Brandt died in 2004 after being admitted to the Regional West Medical Center for doctors to remove his appendix.
According to his parents, Scott and Coni, doctors were slow to respond the Ty’s deteriorating condition when complications occurred during surgery.
The Brandt’s filed the lawsuit against the two doctors who performed the surgery, the Western Surgical Group and Regional West Medical Center.
The jury found that Dr. Thomas White and the Western Surgical Group to be negligent and blamed them for the son’s sudden death.
