Man Dies at Hospital in N.C.

According to reports, a mentally ill man recently died at a North Carolina hospital due to the negligence of the medical staff.

Employees at the staff supposedly left the man sitting in a chair for 22 hours without feeding him or assisting him to use the bathroom.

Cherry Hospital Investigated

Cherry Hospital in Goldsboro is now under investigation and city officials are concerned that patients aren’t receiving proper care at the facility.

Steven Sabock, 50, was sitting in the chair when he choked on his medication while the medical staff watched television and played cards nearby.

Reports claim Sabock was hardly given any food in the three days prior to his death and that workers were supposed to be monitoring the patient around the clock.

Officials Threaten to Cut Off Hospital Funding

Since the incident, federal officials have reportedly threatened to cut off funding at the hospital.

“It’s not the kind of thing that we in our wildest dreams would expect to happen in our hospitals-in our wildest nightmares, I guess,” says Tom Lawrence, spokesman for the Department of Health and Human Services.

Officials are now looking into ways that staff resources can be better monitored and managed.
