Malpractice Trial Set to Begin
A medical malpractice suit was recently filed by the parents of a child who was revived after doctors announced her dead.
The suit has been filed in Orange County, California, and involves a doctor’s mistake in 2003 that cost a little girl her health.
Little Girl Suffers from Pool Accident
Mackalya Jespersen was only 20 months old when she reportedly fell into a swimming pool at her family’s home.
Jespersen is now six and as a result of the accident, now suffers from permanent brain damage.
Mackayla’s parents have filed a suit blaming the Anaheim Memorial Medical Center for their daughter’s disabilities.
The suit claims that doctors at the center wrongly pronounced her dead and disconnected her breathing tube, which cause her current brain damage.
Reports claim that an hour after she was announced dead, a detective noticed her chest moving and doctors were able to revive her.
Defendants Named in Suit
Orange County Superior Court, Anaheim Memorial and Dr. Richard Oxman have all been named as defendants in the suit.
The suit is seeking punitive damages and financial compensation for past and future medical expenses.
