Worker Accused at Hospital in Oregon
A worker from the Oregon State Hospital in Portland was recently accused and arrested for sexually abusing a patient under his care.
The man has reportedly been employed at the hospital for more than five years and the allegations came as a shock to the rest of the staff.
Patient Becomes Victim of Abuse
Francisco Nunez, 56, has been accused of sodomy and official misconduct by Portland police authorities.
Nunez worked as part of housekeeping for the hospital and the 47-year-old female patient who suddenly became a victim at the medical center believes doctors and nurses should have been more aware of what was going on.
The sexual abuse was finally brought to the attention of the state Department of Human Services after the patient was released from the hospital.
Superintendent of Hospital Voices Concern
Roy Orr, who serves as the superintendent of the state mental hospital, states that the recent allegations have left him alarmed and concerned for the safety of other patients at the facility.
“I will not tolerate a single patient at Oregon State Hospital living in fear of assault,” says Orr. “This was a serious incident that occurred within a vulnerable population and calls for a far-reaching investigation to safeguard the well-being of our patients.”
