New Jersey medical malpractice reform rally
There were around 4,000 doctors, nurses, and other staff rallying outside the New Jersey Statehouse demanding that New Jersey medical malpractice awards be capped at $300,000. Opposed to New Jersey medical malpractice caps are democratic leaders in the Assembly who are pushing for subsidizing premiums for doctors in high-risk specialties that seem to result in the highest number of lawsuits. The Association of Trial Lawyers of America-New Jersey chair supports this because he believes “Caps have been proven to be ineffective everywhere they’ve been tried.” Around 6,000 doctors rallied in February as well.
