Initial Pennsylvania medical malpractice steps taken

Lawmakers have begun to take steps to address Pennsylvania medical malpractice “crisis”. The House adopted a bill that would provide financial assistance to accredited trauma centers through the state and require a new level of trauma care. It is believed that the trauma centers are most affected by the Pennsylvania medical malpractice situation. The House State Government Committee just approved a bill allowing for enactment of a law to cap non-economic damages awarded in Pennsylvania medical malpractice cases.
